The present invention relates to a mass transportation fare payment device using a beacon and a method thereof which enable a payment terminal to recognize a beacon terminal carried by a passenger, when the passenger passes by a mass transportation payment position, and perform payment of a fare by using near field wireless communication (Bluetooth 4.0), which accelerates the payment and improves convenience. The mass transportation fare payment device using a beacon comprises: a payment terminal which is installed on a mass transportation means and pays for a fare; and a user terminal which communicates with the payment terminal according to a beacon protocol. The payment terminal comprises: a beacon processing unit which is automatically connected with the user terminal to which a beacon protocol, which is a near field communication protocol, is applied and transmits and receives payment information according to the beacon protocol without user manipulations; and a control unit which is linked with a payment authentication module based on user information provided from the user terminal, which is connected via the beacon processing unit, and processes payments when a passenger gets on, transfers, and gets off. |
