A power module has a power semiconductor device such as a bipolar transistor or MOSFET 14a and 14b, a current sensor such as a resistor 16 for detecting current flowing through the power semiconductor device and a terminal 13d as an output of an apparatus using the power semiconductor device formed as a unit. The power module can convert dc power either to dc or ac power, and vice versa and may be either a power rectifier including a PWM converter, or a power inverter. The series resistor 16 used as the current sensor is disposed on a cooling body 11. |
