<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a water-base ballpoint ink compsn. which is thixotropic, has an improved lubricity, and enables smooth writing by adding a specified amt. of polyethylene glycol monolaurate to a water-base ink compsn. contg. a colorant, a water-sol. org. solvent, and water. CONSTITUTION: Polyethylene glycol monolaurate is used in place of conventionally used polysaccharides (e.g. xanthan gum or Welan gum), cellulose derivs. (e.g. methyl cellulose or hydroxyethyl cellulose), or other thixotropic agents. The amt. of it used of 1-10wt.%. Also a polysaccharide can be used jointly in an amt. of 0.2wt.% of lower since the effect on the writing properties is small. In addition to water, a water-sol. org. solvent (e.g. ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or glycerin) can be used as the solvent. Pigments and dyes of various colors can be used as the colorant. Moreover, a pH regulator, an antibacterial agent, a rust preventive, a swelling agent, etc., are used. The polysaccharide is used after being sufficiently swollen with water.</p> |
