PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately acquire the telephone number of facsimile equipment of a sending side at the time of receiving it by receiving the telephone number of the facsimile equipment of the sending side which is sent from an exchange and storing the telephone number of the facsimile equipment of the sending side. SOLUTION: In a state where image data is sent from facsimile equipment of a sending side of an A company to facsimile equipment of a receiving side of a B company through NTT(NIPPON Telegraph and Telephone Corp.), the NTT sends the telephone number of the facsimile equipment of the sending side to the facsimile equipment of the receiving side through sending source telephone number notification service. Thus, the facsimile equipment of the receiving side acquires the correct telephone number of the facsimile equipment of the sending side. That is, a correct telephone number is acquired by utilizing the NTT's sending source telephone number notification service. In this way, the telephone number of the facsimile of the sending side which is sent from an exchange is received and the telephone number of the facsimile equipment of the sending side is stored.
