METHOD FOR TREATING SEWAGE/WASTEWATER USING PURE OXYGEN AND MEDIA

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for treating sewage/wastewater using pure oxygen and media for adhering microorganism. The method is adopted to conventional activated sludge process. Consequently organics and total nitrogen are removed more efficiently by the method, than conventional activated sludge process. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, pre-treated sewage/wastewater is treated continuously in anoxic and aerobic tanks installed media for adhering microorganism. Pure oxygen is supplied into the aerobic tanks. And treated sewage/wastewater is flowed to a secondary settling tank. A portion of treated water from the secondary settling tank is recycled to the anoxic tank for denitrification and organics removal. Consequently reactor size is smaller, and organics and nitrogen removal is more efficient than conventional activated sludge process.
