The scanner has a scanning unit (7), a charge coupled device (CCD) type light emitter (1000) and CCD type sensors (5) that permit to scan a document in color and/or in black and white. An analysis and control unit (8) controls the emitter and the CCD type sensors. The unit (8) analyses scanned data, during scanning of the document, for periodically determining whether a scanned zone is of color or black and white nature. The scanner starts to scan the document in black and white, when the scanned zone is determined to be black and white. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a scanner. |
