PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a management method for consumable articles, which can avoid suspicion about qualities of consumable articles even when consumable articles such as a toner container is fast consumed because of irregular use.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: read/write means that stores a consumable article with an IC tag having a memory attached thereto and reads/writes information from/in the IC tag; and a control unit having a storage section where a first machine unique number is stored. When a consumable article is stored, the control unit checks whether or not a second machine unique number is stored in a use history region of the memory; if the second machine unique number is not stored in the memory, the control unit stores the first machine unique number in the use history region and additionally records the first machine unique number as the second machine unique number in an exchange/charge history region of the storage section; and if the second machine unique number is stored in the memory, the control unit additionally records the second machine unique number in the exchange/charge history region of the storage section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
