A cutting insert according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a body member that is a columnar body having an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer circumferential surface between the upper surface and the lower surface; and a cutting member that is positioned at the corner part of the outer circumferential surface of the body member, with at least three surfaces of the cutting member being exposed, and the cutting member having a cutting blade at the intersection of two surfaces from among those three surfaces.
