Two distance measuring units (8) that are distanced from each other in a tie longitudinal direction are provided on a measuring device (7) for scanning ties (5). Said measuring units lie on a measuring frame (10) that is connected to the machine frame (3) by a hinge (9). Said measuring frame is connected to an inclinometer (12) in order to automatically position both distance measuring units (8) in a horizontal position.
