PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion which has a fine particle size and excellent dispersion stability and produces an image with excellent optical density, and an aqueous ink.SOLUTION: An aqueous pigment dispersion comprises at least a pigment, an anionic group-containing organic polymer compound, and a polymer having a structural unit represented by general formula (1), where R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R' is an alkyl group that is linear or may be branched and has 12 to 22 carbon atoms, n is an integer of 5-50, and x, y and z independently represent an integer of 1-99 (where the sum of x, y and z does not exceed 100).
