PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyarylene sulfide that exhibits excellent processability and generates no burr or the like, and can satisfactorily mold a product requiring high molding precision, and to provided a product.SOLUTION: The polyarylene sulfide is provided in which: a ratio of a peak area of a polymer chain of a second polyarylene sulfide having a lower molecular weight than the maximum peak molecular weight to a peak area of a polymer chain of a first polyarylene sulfide having a higher molecular weight than the maximum peak molecular weight is 1.3 or less in the molecular weight distribution of the polyarylene sulfide, as measured by gel permeation chromatography using polystyrene as a standard; the maximum peak molecular weight is 12,000 to 60,000; the number average molecular weight is 3,000 to 100,000; and a polydispersity index, defined as a ratio of the weight average molecular weight to the number average molecular weight, is 2.0 to 4.0. A preparation method of the polyarylene sulfide is also provided. The polyarylene sulfide exhibits excellent processability and furthermore generates no burr or the like, and can satisfactorily mold a product requiring high molding precision.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
