Embodiments of the present invention are generally related to a system and method to process crude oil. In particular, the removal of hydrogen sulfide from a bunker oil stream, such as a sour bunker oil stream, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the removal of hydrogen sulfide from sour water streams is additionally or alternatively provided. The method and system for the removal of hydrogen sulfide from a bunker oil stream is of lower-cost and of reduced environmental impact than traditional means.
