PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module downsized while connection accuracy is maintained.SOLUTION: An optical module 37 comprises: a ferrule collar 33 that houses a ferrule 32 for holding an optical fiber 31 and has an open hole; a submodule 37 including an optical element 39 emitting an optical signal or receiving an optical signal; and a housing 35 having one end to which the submodule 37 is fixed so as to contain the optical element 39 and the other end including an optical window for guiding the optical signal to the optical element 39. The end of the ferrule collar 33 has a flange 34 projecting toward the inside of the ferrule collar 33. The ferrule collar 33 is fixed to the housing 35 with the optical element 39 and the optical fiber 31 housed in the ferrule collar 33 being optically coupled to each other via the open hole and the optical window.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
