PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity of the title emulsion, and to lessen the change in performance with the lapse of time, even in case of the silver halide emulsion having a low average silver iodide content based on silver halide by allowing a prescribed amount of a sensitizing dye to be adsorbed to a silver iodobromide emulsion specified by the average silver iodide content, followed by chemically sensitizing the obtd. silver halide emulsion. CONSTITUTION:The sensitizing dye of >=2.55X10<-4>/(r)mol. is adsorbed to the photosensitive silver iodobromide having the average silver iodide content of <=4mol.% based on the total photosensitive silver halide, followed by chemically sensitizing it, in case when the average particle size of a photosensitive silver halide particle contd. in the emulsion is (r)mum. Thus, the sensitivity of the silver halide emulsion is improved, and the change in performance with the lapse of time is lessened, though the emulsion, being advantageous in respect of contrast and stain, has the low average silver iodide content of <=4mol.%. |
