An item of jewellery, specifically a locket, is made from stamped rings or rims (36, 38) of which one has an integral pivot pin (40) and the other has a hinge tongue (52) which are formed during the stamping. To connect the rings (36, 38) the tongue 40 is simply passed behind the pin (40) and then wrapped round it.
