PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent combustion efficiency in a wide range without losing a flame holding property even when much primary air is supplied through a swirl vane. SOLUTION: An oil combustion device has an arrangement wherein oil fuel is atomized and supplied to a combustion cylinder 10 from an atomizing nozzle in a nozzle accommodating cylinder 30 through a fuel supply port 34, and combustion air is supplied to the combustion cylinder 10 at least from the fuel supply port 34 and swirl vanes 36 arranged around the port 34 to perform combustion. The base end of the combustion cylinder 10 has a cylindrical form without having an end wall. On the other hand, the nozzle accommodating cylinder 30 is constructed so that the diameter of the cylinder at least at its tip is larger than the diameter at the base end of the combustion cylinder 10, and provided with an end wall 32a, at the tip, for blocking up the cylinder. The oil supply port 34 is formed at the center of the end wall 32a which is located at the side of the nozzle accommodating cylinder 30 having the larger diameter, and the swirl vanes 36 are formed around the oil supply port 34.
