A combined heat sink and heat pipe comprises a heat pipe (A; figures 8,9,12) having a cover plate member 40, a spacing member 50 with a capillary structure and a condensate therein and a first portion of a base plate member 30, and a heat sink (B, figures 8,9) comprising a second portion of the base plate member 30. The spacing member 50 is high frequency welded to the cover plate member 40 and/or the base plate member 30. The welding process is enabled by a die set comprising an upper die seat 20 and a lower die seat 10. The end 11,21 of each die seat 10,20 is configured to correspond with the spacing member 50, and is provided with protruding granules 12 on its surface to aid welding. |
