Method and apparatus for implementing a codeless intrinsic framework for embedded system processors

A method for compiling code includes generating assembly code for an instruction in the code that is to be performed by a first system. An instruction in the code that is supported by a second system is identified. A directive is generated that directs the second system to perform the instruction.
