摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling combustion capable of reducing pollutant substance discharge and noise at combustion of a diesel engine, enhancing efficiency and performance, and reducing fuel consumption. SOLUTION: The method of controlling the combustion of a direct-injection diesel engine (2) having a common-rail injection system (1) includes steps of performing, at each engine cycle in each cylinder (4) of the engine (2), a first main fuel injection around the end-of-compression top dead center. The method further includes, at each engine cycle and in each cylinder (4) of the engine (2), at least one of a first auxiliary fuel injection preceding the first main injection and a second auxiliary fuel injection following the first main injection. The first and second auxiliary injections are performed close enough to the first main injection, which contributes to the actual combustion of the fuel together with the first main injection.
