PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor capable of maintaining alignment performance between pulleys 2b, 3b respectively of a compressor body and an electric motor, and a driving belt 4 placed across the pulleys 2b, 3b. SOLUTION: An adjusting mechanism 5 to adjust tension of the driving belt 4 by changing relative positions of the compressor body 2 and the electric motor 3 is provided between a base 1 and the electric motor 3, and the adjusting mechanism 5 has an electric motor base 6 to support the electric motor, a supporting means 7 to support the electric motor base 6 so that its tilting fulcrum can tilt at a position below an output shaft of the electric motor and a fixing means 8 provided between one end of the electric motor base 6 and the base 1 for fixing tilting of the electric motor base 6.
