A clamp (10) for vertically holding a continuous glass sheet without the need for attachment apertures in the sheet is disclosed. The clamp has a body (11) in the form of a vertically oriented post with an open ended slot (13) for non-adjustably retaining the bottom edge of the glass panel. The slot includes a protective layer of deformable material (17), and a rigid force distribution plate (15) located between a wall of the slot and the protective layer. Securing means (14, 15), such as grub screws, contact the force distribution plate to retain the glass panel within the protective layer.
