A surfactant is represented by the formula: (see formula above) wherein R1 is C8-C18 alkyl; and X and X1 are the same or different, and each is NH4+, an alkali metal, or an H atom. The mild anionic surfactants presented relate to sulfate ester surfactants and sulfosuccinate surfactants which may be derived from natural feedstocks. The mild anionic surfactants may be also be derived from petrochemical sources, but also from natural and sustainable feedstocks. The mild anionic surfactants are excellent for cleansing, foaming, viscosity building, and dermatological capability. |
