<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound image localization apparatus capable of preventing the generation of a steep crest of a high frequency component of a filter for control, thereby achieving highly robust sound image localization for the head position of a listener. <P>SOLUTION: Speakers 10, 20 are provided on a floor around the listener M sitting on a chair. The speakers 10, 20 are arranged on the maximum axis X of interaural level difference, seen from the listener M. Acoustic signals to be emitted from the speakers 10, 20 arranged on the maximum axis X of interaural level difference are subjected to attenuation of high frequency component by diffraction attenuation of the head of the listener M.
