MODULAR BRAKES AND CLUTCHES

The friction mechanism for use as a brake or clutch contains a cylindrical, central shaft (24) with a radial flange (25) at one end fixed to a rigid brake-disc (22) for operating the mechanism as a brake or fixed to a rotary plate (12) fixed to a shaft for operating as a clutch. - The plate (12) supports one or more piston cylinder arrangements (10). A cylindrical hub (24) is surrounded by a sleeve (28). A ridged disc (22) is fixed to a flanged (25) end of the hub (24).
