PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device that can keep a contact angle between a paper tip regulating member and the tip of paper always constant the time of feeding and separating paper so as to be stable in paper feeding performance hardly generating overlap feed or the like. SOLUTION: A press guide member 10 provided with lever-like press parts 12 in such a way as to hold both sides of a feed roller 2 is rotatably fitted to a shaft 11. The press parts 12 are pressed onto a friction member 7 by their own weight or the like. The tip behavior of paper 5 is straightened by the press parts 12, and the sliding contact angleθof the paper 5 to the friction member 7 is always kept to a constant angle. Contact pressure between the friction member 7 and the press parts 12 is set to such weak pressure that the tips of the press parts 12 are levitated by about a gap corresponding to a sheet of paper in relation to feeding force applied the tip of the paper 5.
