PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mop that facilitates cleaning as the energizing forces of spring members keep a floor cloth from moving loosely in the direction of the minor axis of a cover member when the floor cloth is put into reciprocating movement, so that floors or tatami, etc., can be surely cleaned. SOLUTION: A rod-shaped handle 11 sways in response to the rotation of a floor cloth attaching member M in the direction of its major axis, the floor cloth attaching member M comprising an elliptical cover member 10, a semi- elliptical fixed holding plate 13 fixedly attached to the cover member, and a semi-elliptical rotary holding plate 14 which freely rotates relative to the fixed holding plate. With regard to the rotation of the floor cloth attaching member in the direction of its minor axis 1a', the rod-shaped handle 11 is affected by the energizing forces of spring members 17, 17'.
