The trafficator system has a safety checking and regulating device combined with a rear view mirror and the operating battery for the light-emitting diode trafficator display, for checking the function of the latter and the actual battery charge level, to provide an optical warning signal upon failure of the light-emitting diode trafficator display or a battery charge level below the normal operating level. The safety checking and regulating device can be switched on and off manually at the beginning and end of each journey, or under control of the trafficator signal source.
