A portable communication apparatus is provided to increase the efficiency in use by selectively using a small LCD and a large LCD. A sliding-type portable communication apparatus consists of a main housing(10), a sliding housing(20), a sub housing(30), a hinge unit(40), and the first and second switch keys(50,60). The sliding housing(20) is installed at the main housing(10) so that it can make sliding motion in the lengthened direction of the main housing(10). The sub housing(30) is rotatively connected at the side of the sliding housing(20) by the hinge unit(40). The sub housing(30) comprises the second LCD(31) to display high-definition moving pictures, photographs, etc. The hinge unit(40) provides a hinge axis(A1), and is installed at the side of the sliding housing(20) so as to connect the sub housing(30) rotatively. The first and second switch keys(50,60) are respectively installed at the sliding housing(20) and the sub housing(30) so as to selectively turn on and off the first and second LCDs(21,31).
