<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sharp image of high-resolution with small memory capacity and computational complexity. <P>SOLUTION: A resolution enhancing method comprises: calculating a first pixel position being the smallest error by comparing errors of respective pixels in a search area calculated by a matching error calculating part; storing the first pixel position and the first error thereof, and a second pixel position nearby the first pixel and a second error thereof in a memory; calculating a position of the smallest error in the search error with decimal precision on the basis of the first pixel position and the first error thereof, and the second pixel position and second error thereof, and calculating a decimal-precision vector having its start point at the position and its end position at a pixel of interest; calculating an extrapolation vector of the decimal-precision vector having its end point at a pixel on a screen which is not included in the search area by using the decimal-precision vector; and calculating pixel values of a high-resolution image having more pixels than image data on the basis of the decimal-precision vector, extrapolation vector, and pixel values acquired from the image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
