<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a loss of gas due to discharge at an initial stage of an inflation of an airbag and suppress lowering of a development speed of the airbag caused by gas discharge from a discharge hole. <P>SOLUTION: A side airbag device is equipped with the airbag 30 which is stored in a vehicle seat, and fixed to the vehicle seat at the own rear part, and an inflator 51 which is disposed in a rear part of the airbag 30 and fixed to the vehicle seat. Gas is jetted from the inflator 51 according to the shock applied to the vehicle from the side, and the airbag 30 is inflated and developed between the body side part and the vehicle seat. In the side airbag device, the discharge hole 40 for discharging the gas in the airbag 30 is provided between at least one of the upper end part and the lower end part of the rear part of the airbag 30 and a gas blowout port 52 of the inflator 51. The airbag 30 is folded so as to finally start and finish the inflation in the vicinity of the discharge hole 40 between the discharge hole 40 and the gas blowout port 52 in inflating and developing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
