<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter for a vehicle which can be reduced in size and weight and in which a heat-dissipating fan is prevented from being damaged. <P>SOLUTION: This power converter includes a body 14 having a bottom face 18, a plurality of semiconductor switching elements 26 which are disposed in the body and which constitute a power converting circuit, a cooler 28 which extends from the bottom face of the body downward, includes a heat-dissipating part having heat-dissipating fins 34 cooled by the traveling air of a rail car, and cools the semiconductor switching elements, and a plurality of support legs 60 which extend from the bottom face of the body further downward than the heat-dissipating fins and which can support the body.
