<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that adjusts connection of a steering device and a steering roller so as to prevent skew movement of a belt member at a mechanical original position of the steering device, and thereby perform skew control of the belt member during image formation in a stable and precise manner. <P>SOLUTION: A steering roller 35 rotates while supporting an intermediate transfer belt 10, and can be set in an automatic core alignment mode for autonomously moving in an inclining manner by being driven by the rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 10. A steering device 3 drives the steering roller 35 from the outside to forcibly move in an inclining manner so as to perform skew control of the intermediate transfer belt 10. A control unit 4 sets the steering device 3 at the center of a drivable range according to the inclination movement of the steering roller 35 and causes the steering device 3 to be waited, and connects the steering roller 35 in the automatic core alignment mode to the steering device 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
