PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform interpolation correctly with small amount of operation, even if an image is concealed in one of frames in front and rear of an interpolation frame.SOLUTION: Motion vectors (SMV1, SMV2) are estimated (6) in an image obtained by contracting an input image while shifting transfer at random for each pixel, the motion vectors are magnified and motion vectors (MV1, MV2) are obtained on the input image (7), and then they are used for creating the data of an interpolation frame (13, 14). When estimating the motion vectors on a contraction image, candidates of the motion vectors are evaluated (5) by test interpolation (4). The test interpolation includes zero-order interpolation by only one of the front and rear frames. |
