<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary-drum type magnetic separator which has a magnetic flux density increased close to 1 tesla in a vicinity of the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum and can separate, reliably through adsorption, cut waste, cut powder, etc. which are typically nonmagnetic and are contained in the coolant liquid in minute amounts. <P>SOLUTION: The separator comprises a rotary drum having a built-in inner cylinder arranged with two or more magnets and an outer cylinder made of a nonmagnetic material and being rotatable around the fixed inner cylinder and separates unnecessary matter in the treated coolant liquid. In the inner cylinder, two or more magnets are arranged in the area accounting for nearly three fourths of the peripheral surface in the form of a nearly circular train so that two adjacent magnets face mutually with the same poles. A yoke made of a magnetic or nonmagnetic material is arranged between two circumferentially adjacent magnets, among the magnets arranged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
