PURPOSE:To obtain in high yield the subject particles narrow in particle size distribution without the need for high crushing energy by dissolving a carboxyl group-bearing olefinic resin in a surfactant-contg. non-aqueous solvent under heating followed by cooling to the deposition temperature (or lower) of the resin. CONSTITUTION:An olefinic resin having carboxyl or ester group (e.g. ethylene- methacrylic acid copolymer) is dissolved, under heating to at least the dissolution temperature for the resin, in a non-aqueous solvent (e.g. isoparaffin hydrocarbon) containing a surfactant (e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate) or dispersant, and the resulting solution is then cooled to or below the deposition temperature of the resin to effect controlling the size of the polymer seeds to a low level by the action of the surfactant or dispersant and improve the seed dispersibility, and also deposit the resin particles of atypical shape without growing to spherical shape, thus obtaining the objective atypical polymer particles. |
