PURPOSE:To provide the novel protein useful as an agent for treating osteopathia or as an agent for diagnosing the osteopathia. CONSTITUTION:The objective novel protein is a bone-related protein referred to as OSF-2 and obtained from the bone tissue of a mammalian including a mouse and a man and has e.g. the amino acid sequence of the formula ranging from the first amino acid sequence to the 788th amino acid sequence. The recombined OSF-2 of the mammalian or its analogue can be produced by a recombination genetic technique.
