The safety system for a vehicle on the one hand only allows the ignition key cylinder to be turned to a withdrawal position if the gear shift is in the parking position (P), and on the other hand only allows the gear shift to be moved from the parking position if the ignition key cylinder is in the drive position. A latch (5) fits in a recess (23) of the cylinder and is joined by a Bowden cable (12) to a further latch on the gear shift, with a spring (34) to render the safety system inoperative should the cable break. ADVANTAGE - Safety system which allows the vehicle to be driven in the event of a cable failure. |
