<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a cartridge capable of realizing the reduction of the usage of developer while maintaining stable image quality regardless of the usage of an image carrier, and to provide a storage device mounted in the cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a 1st image forming mode for forming an image on an image carrier by using developer on a specified image forming condition, and a 2nd image forming mode for forming the image on the image carrier by using the developer on an image forming condition different from the specified image forming condition, the image forming condition is set so that the consumption of the developer for the same image may be smaller in the 2nd image forming mode than in the 1st image forming mode. The apparatus has a storage means for storing information to set the image forming condition corresponding to a plurality of levels of the usage of the image carrier, and a control means for changing the image forming condition in the 2nd image forming mode according to the usage of the image carrier and the information stored in the storage means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
