PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit adapted to recover usable data from a partially corrupted video packet, method of recovering data, and video decoder adapted to reconstruct corrupted video data or method of decoding video bitstreams.

SOLUTION: Various concealment techniques are disclosed while including interpolation, substitution. adaptive techniques and weight summing techniques. Embodiments inspect corrupted data packets and identify the location or locations of an error, whether the corrupted data packet contains data expected to be error-free, and whether the error-free data should be used. A downward compatible technique for decoding an FEC code embedded in the video bitstream is disclosed. A technique for fast and efficiently accessing the video bitstreams in a ring buffer is also disclosed.
