<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the probability that a caught pedestrian will collide with an intended area of a hood, while surely catching the pedestrian by an airbag. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag 21 inflating in a forward direction of a vehicle body is constituted by a plurality of segments 23, and has a plurality of longitudinal slits 21a spaced from each other in the body width direction during deployment. The individual slits 21a have enlarged deep portions 21b for restricting legs L of the pedestrian. The front end part of the vehicle body has a curved shape that the middle thereof in the body width direction protrudes forward, and the airbag 21 extending therealong has a curved shape that the middle thereof in the body width direction protrudes forward. Consequently, even if the side part of the vehicle body collides with the pedestrian, the longitudinal ends of the airbag 21 receive the impact of the pedestrian without causing a flexible deformation as a whole, because the longitudinal ends of the airbag 21 are supported by the vehicle body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
