<p>A pneumatic tire has a tread (1), a pair of side walls (2), a pair of beads (3), a carcass (5) having at least one carcass ply that has a body section toroidally extending between bead cores (4) embedded in the beads (3) and also has turned back sections (5b) turned back outward around the bead cores (4) from the inner side in the tire's lateral direction, and side rubber (9) arranged on the outer sides in the tire's lateral direction of the carcass (5). Thin-walled recesses (10) are formed at positions that are, when the tire is in mounted position on an applicable rim (R), on the radially inner sides of the tire from the tire's maximum width positions (W) and at the same time on the radially outer sides of the tire from radially outer ends (5c) of the tuned back sections of the carcass. At each thin-walled recess (10), the minimum thickness t of the side rubber measured in the direction normal to the outermost carcass ply layer is in the range of 2.5 - 4.5 mm.</p> |
