PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assemblability of a cover member.SOLUTION: A shock absorber 100 includes: a cylinder 1 from one end of which a piston rod 1a extends; a cylindrical dust boot 7 that has an expandable/contractable bellows part 7a and a small-diameter part 7b having an inner diameter smaller than that of the bellows part 7a, and protects the piston rod 1a; and a bump cap 6 which is fitted to the cylinder 1 and on the outer periphery of which provided is a projection part 6a to which the small-diameter part 7b of the dust boot 7 is engaged. In the small-diameter part 7b of the dust boot 7, a swollen part 7d swollen radially outside is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
