<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive active material for a lithium secondary battery excellent in electrochemical characteristics such as life, discharge potential, or a power characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: The positive active material for the lithium secondary battery contains a core containing at least one lithium compound, and at least one coating material selected from the group comprising hydroxide, oxyhydroxide, oxycarbonate, and hydroxy carbonate of an coating element which is at least one metal selected from the group comprising Mg, Al, Co, K, Na, Ca, Si, Ti, Sn, V, Ge, Ga, B, As, and Zr, and mixtures of them in a surface treatment layer formed on the core. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
