The invention relates to a method using a sensor system with a frequencymodulated signal source and a delay line to generate a time-delayed reference signal, wherein phase errors are compensated by a modulation (preequalization) correction derived from the reference signal and wherein measured signals having a long propagation time are additionally compensated by means of supplementary computerized elimination (post-equalization).
