PURPOSE: A demodulation method of a channel modem for a satellite communication system compensates a demodulation error generated in a matching filtering process which compensates the input data error through an error estimation. CONSTITUTION: In a demodulation method of a channel modem for a satellite communication system, a demodulated data and an error estimation value are input(ST2). The method determines (ST3) whether the error estimation value is within a filter coefficient range stored in a lookup table of the matching filter. If the error estimation value has a filter coefficient inside of the error estimation range, the method addresses a corresponding filter coefficient value stored in the lookup table on the basis of the input error estimation value, and filters the input data. If the input error estimation value has a filter coefficient value outside of the error estimation range, the method converts (ST5) a filter coefficient value so as to make the input error estimation value is within the filter coefficient value stored in the lookup table. Then, the input data is shifted in order to corresponded to the converted error estimation value(ST6). On the basis of the converted error estimation value and the converted data, a filter coefficient value is addressed, and the data is filtered (ST7).
