PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treating agent useful for treating hypercholesterolemia or atherosclerosis by formulating a specific compound and an adequate amount of a carrier. SOLUTION: This treating agent comprises (A) a compound of formula I X is sulfur or oxygen; R is H, a 1-8C alkyl or benzyl; R1 is a (substituted) phenyl, a (substituted) 1- or 2-naphthyl or a group of formula II [t and w are each 0-4 and t+w<=5; R6 and R7 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; R8 is a (substituted) phenyl]; R2 and R3 are each H, a group of formula II or the like} e.g. methyl [[2,6-bis(1-methylethyl)phenylamino]sulfonyl]carbamate} and (B) an adequate amount of a carrier. The agent is administered to a patient at a dose of 250-3,000 mg/day in terms of a compound of formula I. This corresponds to 5-50 mg/kg (body weight)/day for a normal adult weighing about 70 kg. |
