<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation catalyst which can effectively decrease a PM oxidation temperature and a method for preparing the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The oxidation catalyst contains a Ce-Ga composite oxide which has cerium and gallium and is made of a solid solution in which gallium is replaced with at least a part of cerium. It contains 0.01-50 mol, preferably 0.01-30 mol, of Mn or Fe, per 100 mol of total Ce and Ga. It contains an alkaline metal which forms an oxide or a salt. In the method for preparing the oxidation catalyst, the precursor of the Ce-Ga composite oxide containing a manganese nitrate or an iron nitrate, after being exposed to a solution in which alkaline metal ions are dissolved, is dried and baked to form the Ce-Ga composite oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
