<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a delicate positional shift can be corrected in each segment in correspondence with a delicate variation in characteristics of an fθ lens. <P>SOLUTION: Based on detection results of an image positional shift detecting means, an image clock generating means performs rough adjustment such that the image positional shift becomes less than one pixel by varying a reference clock. With regard to an image positional shift less than one pixel formed at the image clock varied by the image clock generating means, a writing positional shift is corrected by adding data for correcting positional shift to a PWM (pulse width modulation) center of gravity position control means. Writing positional shift of an image can thereby be corrected without requiring a high precision image clock modulating means and a high precision clear image can be formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
