<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for error diffusion processing of a display device, capable of reducing image interferences, such as periodical pattern noise, etc., appearing in performing the error diffusion processing to the images in which the areas of low-gradation portions of an extremely dark part exist. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of lines of an effective video period is defined as one region and the one region extending to a plurality of screens which are a plurality of fields or a plurality of frames is defined as one time region. The pixels diffusing the error data are non-periodically displaced in a lateral direction by each line within one region. The pixels diffusing the error data are non-periodically displaced in the lateral direction in each line within one time region. In the figure, (+) represents amount of displacement in the left direction and (-) represents amount of displacement in the right direction.
