An illuminated umbrella for reducing danger in street traffic comprises water tight LEDs (1) fitted to the points of the umbrella spokes. Preferably the LEDs are fed by three button cells (3) through insulated current cables (2) and can be switched on and off as required by a switch on the handle. Preferably the LEDs give steady or flashing light and batteries can be exchanged by unscrewing the grip.
